Watching the Towers Fall

I had a deja vu feeling this morning while watching the stock market in free fall on CNBC. It was like watching the World Trade Center towers falling on 9-11, in super slow-mo.

This time the terrorists are not swarthy foreigners; they are American through and through. They don't wear white robes and attend mosques; they wear $3000 business suits and are members of the most exclusive country clubs. The terrorists today are not radical Islamists but radical capitalists. Their weapons are not hijacked planes but a banking system of their own creation. Make no mistake, these banker-terrorists are wielding a weapon of mass destruction.

Islamic terrorists are motivated by an insanely misguided morality. Banker-terrorists are not so high-minded. They are motivated by pure greed. The story of terrorist Richard Fuld (CEO of Lehman Brothers) is an example. When faced with troubled liquidity Fuld dismissed concerns and passed out $10 billion in bonuses. On September 11, 2008 (not a coincidental date) Fuld was simultaneously begging for a government bailout and passing out millions of dollars in bonuses.

These Wall Street terrorists are quintessentially Republican. It is the white elite golfing/equestrian/yachting set doing this. One of the Lehman Brothers criminals is President Bush's cousin, George H. Walker. While the Twin Towers was a tragedy, it was a one-off with limited scope. It affected New York and Washington and not much else. The banker-terrorist attack is like the Black Plague. It is infecting every corner of the nation. As days pass, as weeks pass, it is just getting worse and worse.

The radical capitalists are more dangerous than a thousand al-Qaedas.
